History of Cherokee Workwear

In 2004, Cherokee Uniforms recognized a need for classic, dependable, durable scrubs in a wide variety of sizes and colors to meet the needs of every healthcare professional. With that, Cherokee Workwear was born.
“When we first envisioned the Workwear line, we were determined to create the perfect scrub with the fabric, styles and fit that healthcare professionals desired and with the value that they deserved,” said Michael Singer, CEO of Strategic Partners, Inc., Cherokee’s parent company.
Ten years later, Workwear is now the number one selling scrub in the world, with a loyal following that considers Workwear their go-to scrubs brand.
Cherokee Originals in 2004 were made with the same poly/cotton fabric used today that gets softer with every wash. Manufactured in 16 colors, the collection originally offered Women’s and Unisex styles, ranging from Petite to Tall and XS to 5XL. Today, Workwear Originals come in 36 colors, Women’s, Men’s and Unisex styles and offer a size range from XXS to 5XL in Petite, Regular and Tall lengths.
“Cherokee Workwear was designed to meet the busy lifestyle demands of healthcare professionals,” said Susan Nunez, executive vice president, Merchandising, and creator of the collection. “Our goal was to have the best fabric—one that is extremely durable, non-fading and easy care–as well as the best construction. We are extremely proud of the collection and its impact on professional medical apparel.”
Cherokee Workwear hasn’t rested on its laurels during the last decade, however. “We continuously improve the collection each season,” said Nunez, “offering new colors, styles, and now premium fabrics to evolve the brand.”
